Executive Board & Members Meeting

clock

Tony P’s Dockside Grill, Marina Del Rey | November 16, 2017

President Shannon Connolly, MD, called the meeting to order.  Twenty-five members and guests were in attendance. All names have been placed on record.

Dr. Connolly welcomed everyone and spent a few moments focusing on “Vaccine Updates” as a follow-up to our meeting on September 14 at the Taix French Restaurant.  There were a few comments and some Q & A to round out the discussion.

A motion was received and seconded to accept the minutes of the September 14 Executive Board and Members Meeting as printed in the October Newsletter.  The minutes were unanimously approved.

A motion was received and seconded to accept the October 31st Treasurer’s Report presented by Assistant Secretary-Treasurer, Dr. Nzinga Graham, as printed in the Agenda.  The report was unanimously approved as printed.

Board of Directors Report:  Dr. Connolly recapped the advocacy efforts of the CAFP, especially in the areas of gun control and social justice.  She highlighted the philosophical trend that public policy facts have a lot to overcome in the face of so many expressions of opinion.  The passing of Song Brown is a huge victory for primary care.  It means that residency programs are staying solvent. Dr. Connolly encouraged everyone to come to the AMAM – it is part fun, part educational and part inspiring.  It is important for our members to understand policy and recognize who are the stakeholders.  It is important for primary care to speak up for patients…so sign up for the Legislative Day on Monday, March 12.  AND don’t forget to register for the 2018 Family Medicine Clinical Forum, in Monterey, April 13 – 15.

The meeting was adjourned.
