I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to attend the AAFP National Conference. I knew that attending the conference would be very helpful because being there would enable me to meet residents and faculty of various programs, meet other students interested in family medicine, and attend professional development workshops. My expectations were accurate. During the conference, I had the opportunity to learn about many incredible family medicine residency programs. I attended workshops that provided helpful guidance on how to write a personal statement and how to prepare for interviews. I even had the opportunity to attend a workshop on ultrasound skills. I am currently still figuring out what I want my future career in medicine to look like and I am grateful to have been able to attend this conference to learn about the various specialties within family medicine. I had a wonderful experience attending the conference and I would recommend that any student, whether they plan to go into family medicine or are considering other specialties, to attend.

The 2022 AAFP National Conference for Family Medicine Residents & Medical Students was filled with many exciting possibilities than I anticipated. As a first time-attendee and a 3rd year medical student, attending conference was helpful for professional and personal development. National conference served as foundation for my career, as I aspire to match into a family medicine residency program in California.

National conference was filled with many didactics and learning sessions, allowing me to select topics that help inspire vibrancy and help boost engagement. Most importantly, conference allowed me to inspire the next generation of young leaders as I was a speaker for the Inspirational Programming session. Additionally, I was the recipient of the 2022 AAFP Program of Excellence Overall Award, 2022 AAFP Program of Excellence Award as a New FMIG, and a speaker for the FMIG Basics breakout session. The cherry on top was being interviewed by the AAFP News.
