The meeting was called to order by President, Rebecca Bertin, MD. Sixteen members and guests were present. All names have been placed on record. A get acquainted time offered each person the opportunity to introduce themselves and make a statement regarding their practice setting.
Dr. Bertin asked for the approval of the March 11, 2018, minutes taken from the Breakfast Caucus held at the Citizen Hotel in Sacramento. The minutes were printed in the April Newsletter and in the Agenda. It was moved and seconded to accept the minutes as printed. The minutes were unanimously approved.
A motion was received and seconded to accept the 2018 January – May Treasurer’s Report as printed in the Agenda. The report was unanimously approved as printed.
In an effort to allow for the 2-hour CME presentation that was announced in the April Newsletter, Dr. Bertin adjourned the meeting to introduce our presenter, Karen Muchowski, MD, FFAFP. Dr. Muchowski is a member of the Committee for Continuing Professional Development for the California Academy of Family Physicians and a master faculty member of the Collaborative for REMS education (CO*RE). Her CME topic title was “Opioid Prescribing: Safe Practice, Changing Lives”
Following the presentation, there was a very valuable time of Q & A for members to connect with our speaker on topics that were specific to their medical practice concerns.
