The meeting was called to order by President, Rebecca Bertin, MD. Fourteen members and guests were present. Executive Director, Roxanne Kuns, was also in attendance. All names have been placed on record.
Dr. Bertin welcomed everyone and took the opportunity to introduce the chapter’s Executive Board Members that were present. Lourdes Adame, one of our scholarship recipients to the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students in Kansas City, was in attendance. She is a 4th year medical student at David Geffen School of Medicine UCLA and gave an excellent report about her National Conference experience as well as expressing a heartfelt thank you for the privilege of attending for her very first time.
Dr. Bertin called for the approval of the minutes to the June 9th CME meeting at the Marmalade Café in Los Angeles. There was unanimous acceptance of the minutes as presented in the Agenda.
Dr. Monique George presented the January – August 31, 2018, Treasurer’s Report which was also unanimously accepted as printed in the Agenda.
Dr. Bertin opened the floor for additional nominations to the 2019 Nominating Committee Report as presented in the Agenda.
Dr. Felix Aguilar volunteered to be nominated for the vacancy of Alternate Director on the State Board of Directors for District IV.
There were two Delegate vacancies to the CAFP All Member Advocacy Meeting left by members who have moved out of the area. Names of current Alternate-Delegates, Dr. Emma Hiscocks and Dr. Jerry Abraham, were nominated to replace Dr. Judy Kim and Dr. Selene Velasco.
In addition, Dr. Greg Lewis volunteered to be nominated for one of the vacant Alternate-Delegate positions.
The nominations were accepted as presented. Dr. Bertin then closed the nominations.
The remainder of the meeting was spent with a very encouraging activity entitled “My FM Story.” Each person had the opportunity to share a special patient encounter with their tablemates. It proved to be a time of real inspiration.
