April 2016 Executive Board Meeting Minutes
The Citizen Hotel, Sacramento, CA
March 13, 2016
President Kevin Rossi, MD, called the meeting to order. Twenty-two members and guests who were attending the All Member Advocacy Meeting in Sacramento also attended the LAAFP breakfast meeting. Individual introductions were made. All names have been placed on record.
President Rossi welcomed everyone and made a special acknowledgement of the newly elected Executive Committee for 2016. He introduced the topic he will emphasize during his presidency: the serious concerns in the medical community over increased patient requests (demands) for prescription opioids. He has joined the local SafeMed LA safe prescribing “Medical Practice Action Team” and has planned further discussion of this topic at our May member meeting.
President Rossi presented the 2015 president’s plaque to Art Ohannessian, MD, and thanked him for his strong leadership during this past year. Dr. Ohannessian, in turn, offered his appreciation to everyone for the support given in helping to achieve his goals.
Secretary-Treasurer Becca Bertin, MD, drew members’ attention to three reports printed in the Agenda: 1) Treasurer’s Recap of the year 2015; 2) the 2016 Proposed Budget; and 3) the January 1 – February 29, 2016 Treasurer’s Report. For the record, all three reports were individually presented an opened for discussion from the floor. Each report received a motion to accept, which was moved and seconded. The reports were unanimously accepted as printed.
The remainder of the meeting time was dedicated to discussing the five resolutions set before the members attending the AMAM. The final session of the AMAM, following the breakfast meeting, allowed additional opportunity for input from our members as well as members from other county chapters.
