Executive Board & Member Meeting Minutes

President Kevin Rossi, MD, called the meeting to order. Twenty-five members and guests were in attendance. Individual introductions were made. All names have been placed on record.
The first order of business was to approve the May 12th Executive Board and Member Meeting minutes. The motion to accept the minutes as printed in the August Newsletter, as well as, in the Agenda was carried.
Dr. Rossi was delighted to introduce Erin Higgenbotham, one of our scholarship recipients, to give a report on her attendance at the National Conference of Family Medicine Residents and Medical Students on July 28 – 30, in Kansas City, Mo. Erin is a medical student at Keck School of Medicine, USC, and anticipates receiving her Doctor of Medicine in 2017. She expressed her sincere appreciation for the opportunity to attend the conference, highlighting some of her experiences, and thanked the Academy for their generous support.
Dr. Becca Bertin, Secretary-Treasurer, gave an overview of the January 1 – August 31, 2016, Treasurer’s Report, emphasizing two items that present the highest expenditures: the Executive Director’s contract and the support of medical students and residents to national conferences and the AMAM. A motion to accept this report as printed in the Agenda was carried.
After presenting the Nominating Committee Report, Dr. Rossi opened nominations from the floor. Dr. Arlet Sarkissian was nominated for Alternate Director of District IV. Dr. Carrie Nichols was removed from being a current Delegate to the AMAM because she has moved out of Los Angeles County. Dr. Shabana Tariq and Dr. Sandra Avila were nominated as Alternate-Delegates to the AMAM. Nominations from the floor were closed and there was unanimous approval of the names submitted.
There were no other reports given. The meeting was adjourned.
