The meeting was called to order by the Executive Director. All of the participants were welcomed. There were 17 members in attendance, and all names are on record. The LAAFP Member Meeting Minutes from the June 30, 2025, meeting was presented by the Executive Director and there was no discussion. A motion was made to approve the minutes as printed in the agenda. It was moved, seconded, and approved without objection. The 2025 May – August Treasurer’s Report was presented, and Dr. Brown made a motion to accept the report. It was seconded and accepted unanimously.
The 2025 Committee Nominations were presented and a conversation included nominations of Angela Zhu and Millie Brooks for the medical student board member role, which were approved by the group. A motion to accept the nominees was seconded and accepted unanimously.
Dr. Khoo lead a discussion on submitting written testimony to AAFP on behalf of our local chapter in advance of the 2025 Congress of Delegates meeting. Those resolutions included Exception to Student Loan Debt Limit for Advanced Medical Degrees, Oppose Controlled Substance Classification of Mifepristone and Misopropstol, Healthcare for People Experiencing Homelessness, and Protecting Patients from Immigration Enforcement in Health Care Settings. The discussion focused on a review of each resolution and various members volunteering to take the lead on authoring and submitting testimony on behalf of the chapter.
President, Dr. Jerry Abraham discussed upcoming meetings including the November 10, 2025 Virtual Resolution Writing Workshop and the December 13, 2025 member and family meeting at Descanso Gardens.
