President’s Message – Gregory Lewis, MD

Gregory-Lewis, MD
President

As I sat waiting for the train Monday morning, I stopped thinking for a moment. Baby birds chirping, a faint scent of morning dew, a light chilly breeze, the sun emerging on the horizon… Spring has arrived!! A wild, wet winter brought us desperately needed rain, which brings the annual rebirth and sustained growth of our Southern California environment.

Very similar was my experience at the CAFP’s annual All Member Advocacy Meeting (AMAM) in Sacramento. An injection of resolutions, newly elected officers, the energy of seeing old friends and making new connections… all a great way to start off a fresh year. Your Los Angeles Chapter was well represented with seasoned advocates and active student and resident engagement. Save the date for AMAM 2024: April 13 – 15.

Other upcoming Chapter events to include on your calendar are two Member Appreciation Meetings, with invitations to family members . The first will be at the Think Café in San Pedro on Saturday, May 20th and the second will be at Parker’s Lighthouse in Long Beach on Saturday, November 11th. A special guest, our own CAFP President Dr. Raul Ayala, will be joining us at the November gathering. Additionally, we are coordinating our LAAFP Annual Meeting during the CAFP’s Prism of Practice (aka POP) conference in Costa Mesa the weekend of August 25th. More information will be coming, so monitor these quarterly newsletters for updates!

Finally, please let us know what our local Chapter can do for you. We always look forward to hearing from you!
